I know it's not Halloween

This year for Halloween I made some fabulous necklaces. I wanted something cute and fun. Of course I scoured the web finding the perfect thing for my necklaces. I found these little ladies. My friend had a necklace that I love so much and when I thought about how it could be come my great Halloween necklace I knew I had something.

I made a few for the store, Purse-onality, at Gardner Village. I thought these would be an overnight success because every year there is a Witches festival where all the witches in Utah gather to have an amazing night out on the town. I had a feeling these beauties would be flying off the shelves to complete their witchy looks. Unfortunately people didn't have the same reaction I or my close friends had to these necklaces. I still love them and think that you can wear them all year round because unless you look super close it's hard to tell if they are really a skeleton bride.

Being sick wastes my weekend

I don't like being sick. I get sick all the time. Some one gets the slightest cold around me and then I am sick for weeks. I don't understand it. I keep a clean house. There is no mildew, or gross whatever lurking around in my house. I wipe down counters, clean bathrooms.  Sometimes I'm to much of clean freak. I think it's because I don't like being sick.  There were a few people at work that had been sick and now their sickness is on me. Last week, it was a cough that hurt so much that, I may or may not wet my pants. But in all seriousness. I thought that taking out my tonsils would solve my life problem with getting sick. I got a flu shot this year too.  The other thing about being sick that I hate is that I'm home sick and all I can think about is how dirty my house is and that I need to clean it. Laundry needs to be folded, floors swept and mopped. bathrooms too.  AAHHHH!!!! (cough, cough) Also I am not a huge fan of cough syrup...

Motivation

Motivate-to be moved to do something, that is my definition. Something as a parent that I have always struggled with is good motivation to my children. I don't know if I have found the answers yet? But I have found the things that I don't do well that I need to make changes. Dr. Haim Grinott, said in his book, Lessons to Guide your parenting,  "Parents speak intimately, they speak to the heart, when they adopt a language of caring, which is sensitive to their children's needs feelings. It not only helps children to have a positive image of themselves that is confident and secure but teaches them to treat their parents with respect and consideration." With teenagers, there are times when no matter what you say will motivate them to do anything. I have tried to talk more gently towards my teens ans give them expectations of what I would like to see from their work. Principal’s Pride

As a mom I get nervous, anxious and sad that my little lovelies go off to school and are taught by people I don't really know but I am supposed to trust because they have college degrees. I used to want to be one of those people that taught other people's children. But I am okay with just teaching my own children. This year so far in school has been tough and rough. Not really on the kids, but on Mike and I. We want to understand but struggle to help Jersey excel. She comes home telling me that she doesn't have a lot of friends, that she has to make up work during recess, and that she doesn’t get what is going on in her class. I have always worried about Jersey when it comes to learning. She shares many similarities to the things I used to do in school and how I would be when it came time to do homework.
